Client: Walls By Design
Industry: Interior Painting & Design
Platform: WordPress
Location: Denver, Colorado
Project Duration: November 2024 - May 2025
Role: SEO Specialist & WordPress Manager
Background
Walls By Design is a long-established painting company based in Denver, Colorado. Their website was originally built on WordPress in 2005 and had existing traffic, but it had not been updated in years. The content, design, keywords, and SEO strategies were outdated, and the site was struggling to stay competitive in local search results.
I was brought on as their sole SEO Specialist and WordPress Manager to modernize the site and rebuild its SEO strategy from the ground up.
Challenges
Outdated website content and structure
Poor UI/UX affecting engagement and conversions
Old or irrelevant keywords
Weak internal linking and little to no external backlinks
Not ranking well in local search results or the Google Map Pack
Under-optimized blog content and YouTube channel
Strategy & Execution
Competitive Analysis: Started with a full competitor audit focused on other painting and design companies in Denver. This included:
Keyword gaps
Local SEO strategies
Backlink profiles
Content types and formats used by top competitors
Keyword Research & Local SEO Audit performed in-depth keyword research with a focus on local intent and buyer-ready search terms. I also:
Identified local ranking opportunities
Audited and improved local listings
Evaluated current performance in the Google Map Pack
Content Strategy built a content plan that included:
A monthly content calendar tailored to seasonal and evergreen topics
Topics aligned with user intent and high-value keywords
EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trust) considerations to build trust
On-Page SEO Optimization began by updating existing blog content and service pages:
Refreshed outdated information and added recent industry trends
Updated keyword targeting, meta tags, headers, image alt texts, and URLs
Improved internal linking structure
Added visuals and calls-to-action to improve engagement and conversions
New Content Creation created new, SEO-optimized blog content designed to drive traffic and support long-tail keyword strategies. Each piece was internally linked to relevant services and local landing pages.
YouTube SEO Integration: Walls By Design had an existing YouTube channel that wasn’t being fully utilized for SEO. I applied video SEO best practices:
Optimized titles, descriptions, tags, and playlists
Cross-link YouTube content with relevant pages on the website
Embedded videos into blog content to increase engagement
Results
Within a few months of implementation:
Top Rankings for Local Keywords: The client began ranking on the first page and often in the Google Map Pack for key local search terms related to painting services in Denver.

Improved Blog Performance: Revamped and newly published blog posts started ranking for informational queries, bringing in more organic traffic and building EEAT signals.
Increased Conversions: Better UX, clear CTAs, and improved local visibility led to more qualified leads and sales.
Stronger Brand Visibility: Both Google and YouTube traffic increased, leading to stronger brand awareness in their service areas.
